I believe that in life, we are faced with so many choices. Whether we see these choices as huge and life changing, well, that's up to our opinion.
A recent change that I deem to be a big one is my choice to quit my job of 3 years and move 587 miles (exactly) away from my family and friends to Hayesville, North Carolina to help care for my grandmother.
Family is a very important part of my life, so as soon as I hear that my grandmother's health was declining, I offered to drop it all and help care for her.
My family was shocked yet proud that I would do such a thing. I got the same reaction from co-workers, other family members and friends. I was told how wonderful how selfless of a thing this was to do, but for me, it wasn't about the praise that I was getting, for me, it was about seeing a need and doing whatever possible to fill that need. Do I regret that choice? Not one bit. Here's why...
1. Like mentioned before, family is very important to me, so being able to spend this precious time with my grandmother is priceless.
2. North Carolina is beautiful. No further explanation necessary.
3. If God wills it, you better believe that is all of the certainty that you need.
Will these choices affect my life down the road? I hope so. I hope that this experience expands my appreciation for my family, friends and life in general. At times we become too stagnant and need to uproot our lives and do something about it... If we choose to do something for the greater good for someone else, what's the question?
